Omaha Officers Deliver Basketball Hoop to Brothers

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

On Wednesday, July 1st, Omaha Police Officers Deshawn Haynes and Camron Payne delivered a new basketball hoop to 13-year-old AuVeon and 10-year-old CurTrell just in time for summer fun.  Deputy Chief Ken Kanger was able to obtain a new hoop from donors through the Operation Neighborhood Engagement Through Sports program, or NETS for short.

Uniformed Patrol and Gang Unit officers built the hoop before playing basketball with AuVeon and CurTrell this afternoon.

"That was the best part of my day," Kanger said.  "The smiles on those kids faces and the parents also."

They are looking forward to giving away another surprise to kids on Friday.
